The Purpose of this Blog: Writing 4 Death
This is the first post for my new Sharon O'Mara Chronicle: (title to be decided) 4 Death. It is my goal to use this blog as a way to continually remind me of my responsibility to the project and to you, the future audience. It will be my nag and muse, my monkey and backbone for the project.
First of all, I don't have a subject line or a thread of a story yet. There are a number of ideas kicking around and the first order will be to find one that I want to live with for the next six months. Fortunately I have two main characters fleshed out fairly well in the first two books, Sharon and Kevin, but I have also left tantalizing hints about their lives and who they are behind their public jobs and self-created facades, there is much to find out. You know, like that blind date you went on last week or the interview you had and didn't tell them everything.
The first order of business (not story) is set up a time line and schedule. This will be posted on one of the next two or three blogs. From there maybe a few story ideas, then outlines and then the work. All of this is going on in my head at the same time right now - spaghetti with marinara and clams comes to mind, don't you think.
What is true is that I have imposed limits on these stories. I call them "Flyers," a book of 60,000 to 70,000 words that can be read in about 6-8 hours (assuming you read at about 120-200 words a minute) -- the time it takes to fly from the Coast to Chicago and back (generally - unless you're stuck on the tarmac for hours and hours, then it's just one-way).
Tune in occasionally, contribute as you wish, criticize, praise (I hope a lot), offer suggestions, join the Sharon O'Mara Facebook page (under construction), and buy her other stories, her boss would be thrilled.
It should be a lot of fun.
